… and rejoice as ‘Sarah Bernhardt’ joins the fun!

The Baptisia is still hanging around… is there any doubt it’s in the pea family?

Geranium 'Max Frei'I have many different hardy Cranesbill Geraniums in my garden but this was a cutting from a dear friend and neither of us know the variety… I’m just guessing… ‘Max Frei’ ???  If you have a better guess please leave me a note!

Parkinson’s Comfort Quilts

My friend Joanne Lendaro of Splitting Stitches, and I collaborated on three quilts for one of our favorite charities, the Parkinson’s Comfort Project.  I pieced the using bits and bobs of my UFOs (Unfinished Objects)… and Joanne did a masterful job on the machine quilting!  All three are approximately 36 inches wide by 60 inches long.

The Parkinson’s Comfort Project was started by a fellow Northern Lights Quilt Guild member Sonja Hakala in collaboration with Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center’s Parkinson’s Center and has been named the 2015 Vermont Quilt Festival’s Nonprofit of the Year!

If you’re interested in making a quilt… or three as we did… there are a few guidelines that will guide you in creating a piece showing your love and care.

The Vermont Quilt Festival takes place June 26th-28th, 2015 at the Champlain Valley Expo in Essex Junction, Vermont. The Parkinson’s Comfort Project will have an information booth where they’ll be raising awareness of Parkinson’s disease and the Comfort Quilt program.  If you’re in or near Burlington, Vermont that weekend be sure to stop!
