Today’s practice was drawing this stool four times with four different media but each time using the negative space as my guide. The negative space is all the gaps created by the intersections of the legs and rungs.
From left to right… Fountain pen with Platinum Carbon Ink, Koh-I-Nor Magic Pencil, Derwent Medium Wash watersoluble pencil, and Caran d’Ache Museum Aquarelle watercolor pencils.
I was inspired by Koosje Koene’s negative space video… try it yourself!
Ooops! I can’t seem to find a direct link but you can check out her blog for other cool stuff!
You inspire me as always, AND you give me reason to view this and other things on my computer rather than my phone. Much better! I love the double entendre in the name of the Caran D’Ache pencils– you could legally use them in a museum that allows pencils, and therein create museum-quality art. I have plenty of high quality w/c pencils already, so I will take one or two with me to the Currier next time 🙂
I haven’t been to the Currier in a dog’s age… we should make that one of our next stops! The Hood, my local museum, only allows the most basic graphite pencil but if the Currier allows color…. then I’m game!
